A resume should help a recruiter understand what you did, what you can do, and why your experience matters for the role. AI can organize and refine your wording. You need to supply and verify the facts behind it.
Start with an accurate base resume, whether this is your first application or an update after several years of work. Tailor that version to individual roles afterward.
“Write me an impressive resume” gives the model little useful evidence. For each experience, collect:
If reliable metrics are unavailable, describe the deliverable, rollout scope, resolved issue, or process change. Do not invent revenue, growth rates, or user counts to make a bullet sound stronger.
“Responsible for user operations” names a duty without explaining the work. A more useful structure is action + object + method + outcome.
This fictional example illustrates the writing approach:
Before: Handled user feedback and supported product improvements.
After: Organized support tickets and user interview feedback by use case, produced a prioritized issue list, and worked with the product team to update onboarding copy.
The revised bullet adds clarity without fabricating a performance metric. If you only contributed to gathering feedback, use “contributed” rather than claiming you led the project.
Use this prompt with your own notes. Remove unnecessary personal information and confidential company details before sharing them.
Help me improve the wording of this resume experience.
Target role: enter the role
Original experience: paste the facts I provide
Requirements:
1. Preserve responsibilities, dates, tools, and results. Add no facts or metrics.
2. Organize bullets around action, method, and outcome, with one focus per bullet.
3. Separate individual contributions from team results. Do not turn participation into leadership.
4. List questions for missing information separately; do not put assumptions in the resume.
5. Provide revised bullets and explain the reason for each change.Compare each revision with the original. Professional wording can still misrepresent your responsibilities, proficiency, or contribution to an outcome.
For an early career resume, focus on internships, coursework, academic projects, and actual deliverables. Explain your own contribution and identify academic work accurately.
For an experienced candidate, prioritize recent work relevant to the target role. Choose the strongest evidence rather than repeating the same skill across many projects.
For a career change, highlight transferable skills such as requirements analysis, data work, or collaboration. Explain their relevance to the new role. A tool you plan to learn is not yet a skill you have used professionally.
